On these roads, you will be bypassing heavy trucks and buses from different destinations all over Uganda. For communication, on a bigger percentage tourist may not be knowing the local languages for the different regions in the country. There for fueling refilling and asking directions its better to be knowing some English.
However, majority of our visitors have resorted to also hire our chauffeurs due to too much traffic jam in Kampala and the driving rules that maybe little different to what you used to.. Due to their experience and there skilfulness, these drivers know the corners of town and can make short cuts to your final destination. The traffic jam is mainly due to taxis, trailers, lorries and school vans sharing the same route. More so, the buses and taxis have stopovers to load or even off load.

Difference between Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla tracking
Difference between Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla tracking
Gorilla tracking.
Gorilla tracking is done by expert ranger guides, park staff and researchers. This involves tracking down specific Gorilla families and finding them based on their last known location, where they spent the night, and their feeding area. The Gorilla trackers do this for different reasons, for instance, the researchers do the tracking for research purposes, for census etc while the expert rangers do the Gorilla tracking to ensure that the visitors who come to see the gorillas get to see them and as such guarantee a 99% chance of seeing the gorillas despite the fact that the gorillas are ever moving about in their different locations within their respective parks. Gorilla tracking is similar across the different gorilla tracking parks of Uganda (Bwindi and Mgahinga national parks), Rwanda (volcanoees national park) and Congo (Virunga national park)
Gorilla trekking.
Gorilla trekking is when visitors go into the thick rain forests of Bwindi, Mgahinga, Volcanoes and Virunga to look for the Mountain Gorillas with help of the expert ranger guides. The terrain in Bwindi National park, Mgahinga national park (Uganda), volcanoees national park (Rwanda) and the Virunga national park (Democratic Republic of Congo) are all the same, composed of thick tropical raainforests and bamboo, this means that the experience here is the same. The variations are very minimal, based on the steepness of some parks of the mountains, and hills of the virunga masif.
Gorilla trekking usually starts very early in the morning, the guests have to have an ealrly morning breakfast then report to the respective briefing points by 7:30 am where they are taught about the gorilla tracking rules before being assigned to a gorilla family to track, with a maximum of 8 guest assigened per gorilla family / groups. The gorilla trekking activity itself takes between 1 to 8 hours before the travellers get to meet the gorilla family. The Gorilla trekking time differs based on several factors ranging from terrain, movement of the gorilla families, strength and skill of the travellers etc. However its indeed very thrilling to finally meet the mountain gorillas no matter howlong the trek has been. You are allowed a maximum of 1 hour to observe and take photos of the mountain gorillas. During this time, you can be able to ask the ranger guides any information you want to know about these gentle giant gorillas. After the Mountain Gorilla trek, you meet up with your Driver/ Guide and return to your lodge for lunch or depart for your scheduled flight
Difficulty of Gorilla trekking.
Different guests have different preferences of how difficult they want the Gorilla trek to be, some prefer long hikes of adventure through the thick forests, and others prefer the shorter hikes while others may be constrained to chose shorter hikes because of age and or medical conditions. At adventure in the wild safaris, we ensure that we find out as much as we can about the guest right from the time they send the inquiry to when they book their gorilla trekking tour. We therefore help choose the best sector for each guest or group of guests to ensure that they get the best out of their gorilla trek, based on their preferences. We are able to even talk with the park wardens / rangers on trekking day of your trip such that you assigned to Gorilla families based on your preference.

Driving with kids – packing List.
Taking a road trip/Driving with kids on board cant be hectic if not well planned for. Crystal car hire highlights a road trip packing list designed to help see you through a fun trip with the Kids.
The packing list contains all major items that make your journey easier and road-tripping with kids more enjoyable. There are obvious things you don’t need someone else to tell you to like how many socks or t-shirts to pack for your upcoming road trip, or to remind you to carry car registration and insurance documents or a passport if visiting a foreign country.
Here are some of the basic things you must add on your packing list with kids for a road trip.
Tablet/ DVD player/ or an MP3 player.
To keep your kids entertained in the car. Ensure that you pack your favorite CD collection for a family road trip. If you are road tripping with kids, you will never get a chance to listen to it anyway. Instead, make sure you have plenty of DVDs with children’s movies, a tablet with some games, or an MP3 player with audiobooks for children. Make sure you also pack chargers for each of these devices. That’s where the battery pack comes in handy.
First aid kit.
Packing a first aid kit is always a good idea, especially if you plan on traveling with children. There are several items that every family needs to pack in case of emergencies, including bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, sunscreen, insect repellent, and water.
There are two types of kits available: basic and comprehensive. Basic kits contain the essentials, while comprehensive kits contain additional items that parents feel are necessary. Some common additions include baby wipes, diapers, and snacks.
Make sure that you have enough space in your car to store all of your supplies. Also, consider purchasing a child seat belt extender to fit over your existing seatbelt. This will allow you to strap your kid into the car properly without having to remove the seatbelt.
Don’t forget to add a few extra items to your kit. These could include a flashlight, cell phone charger, and a change of clothes. Make sure that you have plenty of cash, credit cards, and other forms of ID handy, too.
Mosquito repellent.
I’m always amazed at how much parents forget when traveling with children. There are so many things to remember, from food allergies to medications to special needs, that it’s easy to overlook the essentials. One thing that every parent should pack is mosquito repellant.
It sounds silly, but mosquitoes are everywhere during summer months, especially in warm climates. When you travel with kids, you never know when you might encounter them, so it’s smart to bring along some protection.
Of course, you don’t want to overdo it. Mosquitoes aren’t dangerous unless you contract malaria, West Nile virus, or dengue fever. But if you’re going somewhere tropical, you’ll want to consider bringing along bug spray or other insect repellents.
There are plenty of options available, including sprays, creams, and lotions. Some products contain DEET, while others are safer alternatives. Whatever type you choose, just make sure you apply it regularly and thoroughly.
Also, make sure that you clean off any residue after applying the repellent. Don’t let it sit on skin for long periods of time, since it could attract insects. And if you notice any irritation, stop using it immediately.
Sunscreen lotion.
Please pack your sunscreen lotion for the good of your skin and the children to protect you and the kids from the harsh sun.
Sunscreen is vital to protecting yourself against harmful UV rays. But sunscreen lotions aren’t always easy to apply evenly, especially when you have children who love to play outside.
To avoid having to reapply sunscreen every few hours, try using a spray bottle instead. Spray bottles are convenient because they allow you to control exactly how much lotion goes onto each area of skin. Plus, they’re easier to clean after use.
Spray bottles are available in both manual and automatic versions. Manual ones require you to press down on the trigger to release the lotion, while automatic ones automatically dispense the amount needed. Automatic models usually cost less than manual ones, but they tend to be bulkier and harder to store.
Regardless of whether you choose a manual or automatic version, make sure you buy one that includes a pump mechanism. These pumps are easier to operate and provide a consistent flow of lotion.
For extra protection, look for products that contain zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is an effective sunblock ingredient that provides broad spectrum coverage.
Zinc oxide can be found in several different forms, including granules, powders, and liquids. Make sure you read the label to understand how much you need to apply. For example, if you’re applying a liquid form of zinc oxide, you’ll likely need to mix it into water before applying it to your body.
After you apply the sunscreen, wait 10 minutes before going outdoors. During this period, the active ingredients will absorb into your skin and begin working.
Make sure you follow the directions on the packaging to prevent overapplication. Overapplying sunscreen can lead to burning and irritation.
Also, remember to reapply sunscreen regularly. Sunscreens typically lose effectiveness after 6 months, so you’ll need to replace it every six months.
Use a waterproof sunscreen if you plan on spending extended periods of time swimming or sweating. Waterproof formulas protect against UVA rays, which penetrate deep into the dermis and can damage collagen and elastin fibers.
Waterproof formulations also offer additional benefits, such as preventing chapping and cracking caused by sweat.
Be careful not to rub sunscreen into open wounds or cuts. Doing so could irritate the area and potentially lead to infection. Instead, gently pat the affected areas dry and then apply the sunscreen.
Tip: When choosing a sunscreen, opt for a formula containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide rather than chemical filters. Titanium dioxide blocks UVA rays, while zinc oxide absorbs UVB rays.
Car seats for kids adjusted for their age.
When children sit in a car for hours, they must be comfortable, safe, and also have good head support. When you rent a car for a road trip you should never rent children’s car seats, carry your own if you can.
It’s always a challenge to pack a car seat for children. Not only does it require planning, but it can also be difficult to figure out exactly what type of car seat is appropriate for each child.
Fortunately, there are several types of car seats available today, including booster seats, forward facing seats, and convertible seats. Each type offers different benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to understand the differences before making a purchase.
Booster Seats: These seats offer extra support for toddlers who are still growing and developing. Booster seats are typically used until children reach 40 pounds, although some manufacturers recommend switching to another type of car seat after that point.
Forward Facing Seats: Forward facing seats are ideal for babies and young children who weigh less than 20 pounds. These seats allow parents to face their children while driving, which can be helpful during long trips.
Convertible Seats: Convertible seats are perfect for older children who weigh over 30 pounds. These seats convert into boosters and then back again as needed. Some models can even convert into a stroller.
There are other factors to consider when choosing a car seat, including safety features, weight capacity, and ease of installation. When shopping for a car seat, look for reviews online and ask friends and family for recommendations.
Car seat organizer.
Car seat organizers are useful if your family likes road trips a lot. They properly hold all the kids’ stuff in one place and will save you lots of frustrations (‘mom, where is my…’ or ‘dad, could you pass me my… ‘).
I’m always trying to figure out the best way to pack our car seats into the backseat of our minivan. We have two car seats and three children, so it gets pretty crowded.
We started off with just putting the car seats in the middle of the backseat, but then realized that it was difficult to reach both seats at the same time. So we moved the car seats closer together and put a couple of bags under each seat to hold them down. But now we had to remove the bags every time we needed to open the door.
So we decided to try something different. We bought a car seat organizer from Amazon.com. It holds the car seats securely in place while still allowing us easy access to the doors. Now we just slide the car seats into the slots and close the lid behind them.
It’s really convenient and saves us a ton of time. And since we didn’t have to worry about losing anything, we were able to fit more stuff into the car.
Activity books, coloring books, and crayons, pencils and pens.
These will help keep the kids busy at some point when you reach your destinations.
Activity books, coloring books and crayons, markers and colored pencils are all great resources for children who love to learn. These items are perfect for encouraging learning and creativity while keeping young minds busy.
There are several types of activity books available for purchase online. Some are geared towards specific age groups, while others are meant to appeal to older children. Activity books are usually inexpensive and easy to find, making them a popular choice among parents.
Coloring books are another option for children who enjoy creative activities. Colored pencils and markers are less expensive than crayons, and they allow children to express themselves creatively. Crayon sets are ideal for younger children, while adult coloring books are perfect for adults who enjoy relaxing after a long day.
Pencils and pens are useful for drawing and sketching. There are several different kinds of pencils available, including mechanical pencils, gel pencils, and soft lead pencils. Pens come in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the type of writing you’d like to accomplish.
Crayons are still widely used today, especially by preschoolers. Kids love the bright colors and fun designs, and they’re perfect for practicing fine motor skills. Many brands offer crayons that feature themes related to animals, sports, holidays, and other topics.
Snack container with separate compartments.
This will help you carry different snacks like dried fruit, nuts, and cookies for all your kids. I’m always amazed at how much stuff parents pack into their car for road trips with children. There’s usually enough food to feed an army, along with toys, books, games, snacks, drinks, etc., etc.
It seems like every parent wants to make sure that their child has plenty to eat while traveling, but sometimes it’s easier to just bring a few healthy options instead of trying to fit everything into one bag.
One solution is to create a snack container with separate compartments for each type of food. This allows you to pack healthier foods separately from unhealthy ones, making it easy to choose what goes in your kid’s lunchbox.
To make this work, you’ll need to buy a snack container with multiple compartments. Then, fill each compartment with different types of food. You can either put items directly into the containers or store them in zip-top bags inside the containers.
For example, you could put fruit and veggies in one section, protein bars in another, crackers in yet another, and granola bars in a fourth. Or, you could divide the snacks into categories, such as fruits, vegetables, protein, and carbs. Whatever method you decide to use, make sure you label each compartment clearly so that your kids know exactly what they’re eating.
Next, add a couple of reusable water bottles to the mix. These are especially helpful if you plan to stop frequently during long drives. When you reach a rest area or gas station, you can refill your water bottle, then continue driving with no worries.
Finally, throw in a small cooler filled with ice packs. This helps keep cold beverages cool and prevents them from spoiling. And, if you happen to run out of room in your cooler, you can easily transfer the contents to a larger container.
Printed map, road atlas and a travel guide of the area you are traveling to.
Do you want to drive on the main highways all the time when there might be an alternative scenic road leading to your next destination? Plan your trip well to include some stopovers for the kids to play, add a few off the beaten path places to your itinerary. When you use a good old fashioned map you can see so much more!
Knife.
You will use it more often than you expected from peeling apples and carrots in the car, to repairing a broken air pipe of our car’s engine. And have a couple of screwdrivers in the car to use on your road trip.
Instant stain removers/wipes.
Kids are likely to pour their drinks and foodstuffs on themselves and in the car at any time, you must be ready to clean all the time.
Paper tissues, wet tissues, kitchen towels.
These are some of the crucial items you must add on your packing list for kids. You will need all of these when road-tripping with kids.
Quick-drying towel.
They’re very handy for any road trip especially when kids pour drinks into your car or on their clothes. These are absolutely necessary for keeping your child clean during long car rides. Make sure you pick up a couple extra ones just in case.
Rain jacket.
You may not afford to carry umbrellas for each of the kids when we travel, but a good light waterproof jacket is a must. I always pack rain jackets for our family trips. We travel quite frequently and I’m always worried about the weather. Rain jackets are perfect for keeping us dry during rainy days. Plus, they look cute and add a bit of style to our outfits.
We usually bring along two types of rain jackets: a lightweight zip-up hooded jacket and a waterproof windbreaker. Both of these items are versatile enough to wear while hiking, running errands, or just hanging out inside.
To pack a rain jacket, I recommend bringing a few different sizes. My favorite brands are Columbia and North Face. These brands offer a variety of styles and colors, making it easy to choose the perfect fit.
Binoculars.
We have small binoculars for each of the kids and it keeps them busy on the road and also helps to reduce their disruption to you.
There are a few different types of binoculars available today, including spotting scopes, rangefinders, and compact models. Each type offers advantages over others depending on the situation. Here are three tips to consider when choosing a pair of binoculars for your next trip:
1. Choose binoculars based on your needs.
2. Consider the features you need.
3. Look for reviews online.
Choosing binoculars based on the purpose for which you plan to use them is key. Do you need a pair for bird watching or hiking? Are you planning to sightsee while camping? What kind of terrain will you be traveling through? Will you be taking photos? These questions will help you narrow down your choices.
Next, look for binoculars with features that meet your specific needs. Some binoculars offer zoom capabilities, while others focus on distance. Others feature variable magnification, allowing you to adjust the power of the lenses to suit your viewing preferences.
Headphones.
Headphones help you disconnect from those moments when the kids get too loud in the car.
While it may seem harmless enough, driving with headphones on is dangerous and illegal. Not only does it distract drivers from paying attention to road conditions, but it could also lead to accidents.
It’s important to remember that children are naturally curious and love exploring the world around them. When they hear loud noises or voices coming from outside of the car, they might try to look inside the vehicle to investigate. This can put them in danger if the driver isn’t paying attention.
To avoid this problem, consider purchasing child-safe headphones. These types of headphones feature noise-canceling technology and low volume levels. Some models even offer features like voice prompts and automatic shut offs.
While it may seem like overkill, it’s important to invest in safety gear for yourself and your family. It’s never too early to teach your children about safe driving habits.
Neck pillows and blankets.
There are tons of different types of neck pillows and blankets available today. Some are meant to support your neck while others offer extra comfort. But what type of pillow or blanket is best for driving with kids?
I recommend choosing a neck pillow that offers both support and comfort. Neck pillows that provide support tend to be firmer and thicker, while softer ones provide more comfort. Also consider whether you’d prefer a neck pillow that adjusts to fit your neck size or one that stays put.
For blankets, choose one that provides warmth and comfort. Look for a thick, soft material that feels nice against your skin. Choose one that fits snuggly around your neck and shoulders, making it easy to adjust as needed.
Remember that safety always comes first. Before purchasing anything, read reviews online to learn what other parents think about the products. And remember to bring along plenty of snacks and drinks for yourself and your children.
Toys for kids.
Leave all the noisy toys at home and carry just a few for your kids to make them busy on your road trip.
Kids love toys. And parents love finding the perfect toy for their child. But sometimes, shopping for toys can feel overwhelming. There are so many options, and it seems like every store sells different types of toys. So, how do you choose the right ones for your kid?
Start by thinking about what type of playtime your child enjoys. Do they prefer building blocks over dolls? Or maybe they enjoy playing dress-ups. Once you understand what kind of activities your child likes, you can narrow down your choices based on the age range.
Next, look for toys that are safe. Toys that contain lead or other harmful chemicals aren’t recommended for children under six years old. Also, avoid toys that are flammable or pose choking hazards. Finally, consider safety features. Some toys have built-in brakes or wheels that prevent them from rolling off tables or counters. Others have bright colors or reflective surfaces that make them easier to spot in dark rooms.
And finally, remember that kids grow fast. When choosing toys, always buy the largest sizes available. This way, you’ll have plenty of room to expand your collection later on.
Clothes and shoes.
Pack fewer clothes and shoes that only cater for the period you will be on safari and make sure you can layer when needed. When traveling with children, it’s helpful to pack multiple outfits for different weather conditions. Also, dress your child in several pairs of socks and underwear. This will prevent him or her from having to change during long car rides.
Ball or a Frisbee.
If you have some more space in the car, it’s good to pack a ball. It’s a great way to get the kids tired during short stops on the road. There are two main types of toys that children play with: balls and frisbees. Balls tend to be easier to pack, while frisbees are usually heavier and require a special bag. When choosing between the two, consider the weight of the toy, the number of pieces, and whether or not it needs to fit inside a suitcase.
For example, a ball is much lighter than a frisbee, making it easier to carry around. But a frisbee tends to be larger and requires a separate bag, which adds bulk. So depending on the type of travel you plan to do, you might choose one over the other.
Flashlight.
You will need an extra flashlight to save your phone battery.
I’m always amazed at how much stuff parents pack into backpacks for trips with their children. There’s usually enough food and snacks to feed a family of four for several days, along with toys, books, games, and other items. But then there’s also the inevitable flashlight.
It seems like every parent needs a flashlight these days, and while flashlights aren’t exactly necessary for kids, they certainly make life easier. When traveling with kids, you probably want to bring a few different types of flashlights. Some of them are rechargeable, others are disposable, and still others are waterproof.
There are plenty of options available, so here are just a few suggestions.
1. Rechargeable Flashlight: These are ideal for camping trips, road trips, and long car rides. They’re easy to carry, and they provide bright light for hours at a time.
2. Disposable Flashlight: These flashlights are perfect for short trips or for emergencies. They’re inexpensive, lightweight, and easy to store.

4. LED Flashlight: These lights offer brighter illumination than traditional bulbs, making them ideal for nighttime activities. They also consume less power than incandescent bulbs, meaning they’ll last longer.
5. Solar Powered Flashlight: These are especially helpful if you plan on spending extended periods outdoors. They charge automatically during daylight hours, and they’re powered by the sun during nightfall.

9. Compact Flashlight: These flashies are smaller than standard flashlights, making them ideal for storing in a backpack or purse. They’re also convenient for carrying around when you’re working outside.
10. Bike Helmet Mounted Flashlight: These bike mounted flashlights are great for cyclists who ride through dark areas. They attach to helmets securely, and they illuminate the path directly behind the rider.
11. Handheld Flashlight: These handheld flashlights are ideal for illuminating dark spaces, and they’re particularly useful for exploring caves, mines, and other underground locations.
12. Car Key Finder: These key fobs are designed to look like car keys, and they contain a tiny flashlight inside. They’re ideal for helping drivers locate their cars after parking.
13. Portable Lantern: These lanterns are similar to flashlights, except they’re larger and heavier. They’re ideal for lighting large rooms, and they’re typically used for camping or tailgating.
14. Candleholder Flashlight: These candleholders are designed to look like flashlights, and they’re perfect for decorating tables, mantels, and walls. They’re also useful as decorative accents, and they add a touch of whimsy to any room.
CONCLUSION.
In conclusion, driving with children can be stressful, especially if you’re trying to keep everyone safe and comfortable. But with a little planning ahead of time, you can avoid any potential problems and ensure that your trip goes smoothly.
The first step is to figure out where you want to go. Do you plan to visit relatives or friends? Are you going somewhere specific like Disneyland or the zoo? Once you know where you’re headed, you can begin thinking about what you’ll need. For example, if you’re visiting someone who lives far away from home, you’ll probably want to pack clothes appropriate for the weather and the season.
Next, decide which items you absolutely must have with you. This includes snacks, drinks, toys, blankets, pillows, and anything else that you might need during the day. Then, add in any extras that you’d like to take along. These include extra clothing, sunscreen, bug spray, and maybe even a change of shoes. Finally, pack everything in a bag that’s easy to carry and won’t weigh too much. That way, you won’t have to worry about carrying around heavy bags or struggling to hold onto your car keys.
