Day 1 of the 10 Days of Sounds of the North: Transfer to Sipi falls

On this morning, you will drive through Kampala city then east through the Mabira rain forest, through Jinja, Mbale and finally sipi. This area is full of rich heritage and fascinating culture. You can have a lunch stop at Mbale and with beautiful viewpoints on your way you will reach Sipi Village, nestled between mountains and waterfalls. Decide to go abseiling and watch the falls at a close range.

Day 2: Sipi falls Tour

On a gentle morning, you will enjoy a hike to the lovely Sipi Falls. A beautiful walk to the bottom of the famous waterfall, and then continue with a challenging climb to a series of caves. As you follow the challenging trail to the other waterfalls, you will pass maize fields, banana plantations and typical bandas, you can return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and some relaxing. In the afternoon you can visit a Coffee Project and find out why Sipi Falls is home to one of the finest coffees in the world. Talk to the farmers, see the plantations and learn more about the process behind coffee making. Then enjoy your freshly brewed cup of coffee as you relax and watch the sunset. A walking guide here is required at a fee of 30,000ugx ($12).

Day 3: Sipi Falls to Kitgum:

After a nice breakfast, you will set off for kitgum town far north. This journey is a bit long but will enrich you with real great scenery and different cultures of Uganda. This area was devastated by the civil unrest years back and now is steadily improving. You will witness the beautifull kids and people of Uganda.

Day 4: Kitgum to Kidepo Valley National Park.

In the morning you can decide to visit a neighboring primary school and understand the education system upcountry. It differs a lot with schools in developed towns, very interesting looking at how these kids sit under trees for lessons. You can then proceed to Kidepo about 230kms. You will check in at the Apoka hostel or upgrade to Apoka lodge, a high end accommodation in the park. The sorroundings are gifted with spectacular wildlife and great scenery. The overlooking Narus valley is spectacular. Relax or get introduced to the game on a gamedrive. Advisable to hire a ranger at $20.

Day 5: Kidepo Valley National Park.

You haven’t done a safari unless you have been to this hidden treasure in the wilderness. This is one of the most spectacular parks with abadant wildlife and great scenery. Giraffes, ostriches, zebras, elephants, kudus, caracal, bat eared fox, reedbucks, lions and much more. The park is also a birders paradise as it boasts a bird list with over 475 species. Have lunch and relax before going on a visit to one of the local Karamojong communities. The Karamojong tribe is well known for their unique nomadic lifestyle and rich traditions of storytelling.

Day 6. Kidepo Valley to Murchsion Falls National Park.

On a good morning after breakfast, you will head south to Murchison Falls National Park. you will enter the park from the north and with a game drive continue south towards the famous river Nile. Look out for buffaloes giraffes, hartebeests, Uganda Kobs and elephants and much more as you pass the savannah dotted with Borassus palm trees. Dinner and overnight at fort Murchison lodge located across the road to packwach.

Day 7: Murchison Falls National Park.

On having a nice breakfast and with your packed lunch, consider moving into the park for a morning game drive. Advisable to use the Delta track through Pakuba. This track is endowed with spectacular wildlife many to offer. The rare leopard, lions, home for the giraffes, bucks. Just can’t mention it all. You just need discover this on your own. This is the biggest wildlife reserve in uganda with a lot of wildlife to offer. After the game drive that could end at around 11:30am or 12am, you will proceed to the paraa side and book for the afternoon boat cruise that takes off at 2:30pm. For two hrs, you will be entertained to a lot of water animals and others quenching their thirst. hippos, crocodiless, buffallos, elephants and birds. The boat cruise takes you to the bottom of the re known falls of the Murchison. The most spectacular thing that has ever happened to this longest river in the world. Dinner and overnight at fort Murchison.

Day 8 of the 10 Days of Sounds of the North: Murchison Falls National Park

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will visit the magnificent Top of the Falls where you can marvel at the mighty Nile. Watch how the fall is being forced into a seven meter crevice to thunder 45 meters below in a series of cascades. After this spectacular scenery you proceed to the southern part of the national park, Budongo Forest Reserve. Here you will go for a guided chimp tracking in the forest. Together with your guide you will look out for tracks well hidden in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. Dinner and overnight at Budongo Eco Lodge.

Day 9: Murchison Falls National Park to Jinja.

After a delicious breakfast in the midst of the tropical rain forest you will depart the biggest national park and drive towards the south. En route through masindi town, you can make a stop at Ziiwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The reserve was created to reintroduce rhinos to the country which have been extinct since 1982. With a ranger, you will track the Rhinos and observe them in their habitat at a very close and safe distance. After this activity continue to Jinja for overnight at the Source of the Nile.

Day 10. Drive back to Kampala for your flight, end of the 10 Days of Sounds of the North.

On having a nice breakfast, consider departing for Kampala driving at your own pace. About 80kms to Kampala this 2 hours drive could give you a chance to do a Kampala city tour. the Namugongo shrine, kasubi tombs, the only Ba’hai temple built In Africa, the Bulange and wamala tombs not forgetting the museum and the Idi Amin torture chambers. Give us a call on where you prefer us to pick the car. Marking the end of the trip, we say as usual, “mwebale nyoo, mwelaaba”. Meaning, thank you very much and safe journey/flight. Back home.
